This is for fight/this is for fun (2012) is stuck in the coming and going between yesterday and today, between war and game. The absence of any caption, text, place confirms this coming and going in history. It’s about adopting a variety of styles to reveal the iconographic issues: war report, documentary, fiction, acknowledgement. This series, whose name comes from the anthem sung in Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket, would like to deconstruct clichés but also the power of pictures to transform the subject and the world. A mix of both an offbeat esthetic and of obvious anachronisms, this series calls for a collective memory from rough historical reconstructions where the entertainment is linked to the fight.
